TheToyZone Looking for a Guest Halo Blaster Reviewer?

On the less serious side of running a blog, sometimes I get to pass on little blurbs here and there from companies or media. In this case, a toy review site is looking to pay someone to review some Halo blasters for them! The Bulldog and Mangler, to be specific. Yep, with the video game finally releasing, reviews of these blasters are becoming more relevant.

Now, if you read the terms and such, there are things to be aware of. Like being at least 18, being considered an independent contractor (if selected and accepted) for tax purposes, etc. But there’s always someone out there who wants to try their hand it this, so look things over, and give it a go if you desire!

Nerf Mega XL Big Rig Review

Normally, you’d expect a basic “pistol” in the line to be the starter experience you want for the line. For Mega XL, the Big Rig fills that role. Complete with open packaging to show off the blaster, it hopes to impress you with just how large the barrel is for the ammo you’re firing. And fire it does! But some ergonomic and feel issues keep the Big Rig from being as appealing as other blasters in the line.

Nerf LMTD Halo Needler Announced!

While I was off traveling and playing Humans v Zombies at Grove City College, Hasbro PulseCon 2021 was streaming. I didn’t get to see a lot personally. However, the Nerf segment lined up with the end of my lunch break. So I did get to see the biggest Nerf-related product reveal – the Nerf LMTD Halo Needler! As a functional prop for collectors, it looks pretty neat, and seeing the designers demonstrate the prototype on stage (in all its grey plastic and guts-hanging-out glory) was cool. Read on for the official announcement info and more!

Banned Blasters Indiegogo Goes Live!

It’s been an interesting saga for the people behind Banned Blasters, but their crowdfunding campaign is now live. The blaster (they’re tweaking their prototype prior to a production run of injection molded blasters) is similar to a high performance Stryfe, but with several differences. A dual stage trigger, for one. Short darts only, as well (after much community feedback). And, possibly the most interesting development, 200fps out of a single flywheel stage!

There was a bit of a misfire in starting the campaign – originally, it was supposed to be on Kickstarter; Kickstarter banned the project for being a weapon (in spite of other blasters being crowdfunded there before). To their credit, the people making this blaster (who have been somewhat active on Nerf-related discords and other places concerning development) are staying with the “Fixed Goal” model, so that people won’t be charged if they don’t meet the goal.

There are also several options available, depending on how many blasters you want to get – if you and several friends want one, you could pool together for one of the higher perks and get these for less money per blaster.

Nerf Fortnite Heavy SR Review

Ah, the joys of Mega magazine-fed blasters. The Centurion sold like hotcakes, but liked to eat darts. Then it took seven years for Hasbro to make another mega blaster with magazines (the Motostryke). Now, a year later, we have another one, courtesy of the Fortnite blaster line. The Heavy SR ends up being a spiritual successor to the Centurion, and in all the right ways. It’s going to be awkward trying to use it in a war, yes. But when you just want a big blaster, shooting big darts out of a magazine, it gets the job done.

Hasbro Pulsecon 2021 – This Friday and Saturday!

The time is upon us! Given the success last year (and the fact that pandemics are still a thing…over a year later…), Pulsecon is online again this coming weekend!

There are several mentions of Nerf, both in the Fortnite Panel and the Nerf LMTD section of the stream. Even so, some surprises could pop up here and there. Check the website for the full schedule, but especially pay attention once it hits 12pm EST on Saturday!
